Eeles Landström

Eeles Landström ( Eeles Enok Landström ; born January 3, 1932 in Viiala ) is a former Finnish athlete . With a height of 1.86 m, his competition weight was 82 kg.

Career

In 1952 Eeles Landström competed in the decathlon at the Olympic Games in Helsinki . With 5694 points (6123 points according to the rating valid since 1985) he finished 14th. With 4.20 meters in the pole vault he was the best of the decathletes in a discipline. After 1952 he only appeared internationally as a pole vaulter.

At the European Championships in 1954 in Bern, he jumped 4.40 meters as high as the Swede Ragnar Lundberg , but won the European title. At the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 , he finished seventh with 4.25 meters.

In 1958 at the European Championships in Stockholm in 1958 , Eeles Landström was able to successfully defend his title. With 4.50 he jumped as high as Manfred Preußger from the GDR and Wladimir Bulatow from the Soviet Union, but again the rule of multiple attempts decided in his favor. At the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, Landström won bronze with 4.55 meters behind the Americans Don Bragg and Ron Morris .
