Eeva Park (until 1970 Eeva Hint , born September 9, 1950 in Tallinn ) is an Estonian writer.

life and work

Eeva Park was born the daughter of the writers Minni Nurme and Aadu Hint . After graduating from high school in Tallinn (1970), she worked as an archive assistant and as a silk and porcelain painter until 1985.

Eeva Park has been a member of the Estonian Writers' Union since 1993 . Today she lives as a freelance writer in Saku .

Literary work

Park made her debut as a poet in 1983 , but soon devoted herself to prose as well. In this genre, she was already highly praised with her first book and dubbed Jaan Kross as a competitor . In the prose books that followed, a strong autobiographical element stood out, the fiction of which was critically praised.

After that, Park concentrated on contemporary issues and was one of “the most important companions of the new times in Estonia”. Her novel Lõks lõpmatuses (2003; German: "Trap, infinite", 2008, see below) caused a sensation. In the thriller Eeva Park describes a young Estonian woman who is forced into prostitution in Berlin , takes refuge in the plastinate cabinet of "Professor von Toth" and finally kills her Peininger and then herself. In particular, the dark side of the Estonian economic miracle with street children, moral neglect and daily brutality are dealt with in the book.

Eeva Park also writes plays and short stories, and continues to regularly write poetry.
