Location of Eggeloge in Lower Saxony

Eggeloge is a district of Westerstede , the district town of the Lower Saxon district of Ammerland . The place is about six kilometers north of the city center on the border with the Frisian community of Zetel . The Eggeloge administrative district of the city of Westerstede includes the villages Eggelogerfeld , Grafenfeld and Jührdenerfeld as well as Eggeloge itself .

history

Eggeloge was first mentioned in 1190 as Ecgeloge . The village was probably founded in a cleared area in an extensive oak forest area. The name is derived from the former name Ecgelo for an oak forest. The type of foundation in a cleared area indicates that Eggeloge is not an original settlement, but a later manorial foundation. In 1428, Drosten Jacob von der Specken listed three farms in Eggeloge (then called Eggelo ) in the stock register . The contribution register from 1679 lists three househusband and nine mutt locations as well as one hayman .

In 1905 the former narrow-gauge railway from Ocholt to Westerstede was extended through Eggeloge to Grabstede , creating the continuous Ellenserdamm – Ocholt line . At the same time, the conversion to standard gauge took place . Passenger traffic on this route was discontinued in 1954, freight traffic between Linswege and Grabstede in 1966.

Eggeloges is connected to local public transport via line 2 of the Westerstede Citizens ' Bus Association and line 353 (Westerstede– Halsbek ) operated by Weser-Ems Bus .

Events

Every year on Ascension Day in Eggeloge there is an early dance with several thousand guests. The "bushy parties" held there are also well known.
