Ehime FC ( Japanese 愛媛 FC) is a Japanese football club from Matsuyama , the capital of Ehime Prefecture . Since the championship in the Japan Football League in 2005, the club has played continuously in the J2 League .

history

The club was founded in 1970 as the Matsuyama Soccer Club and was renamed Ehime Football Club in 1995 . For a long time the club played in the regional or prefectural league, as Matsuyama was represented in the Japan Soccer League by the works team of the local company Teijin .

In 2003 he was promoted to the Japan Football League . After winning the JFL Championship in 2005, Ehime plays in the J. League Division 2 .

On November 28, 2007 Ehime managed a respectable success with a 2-0 away win over the reigning winner of the AFC Champions League , the Urawa Red Diamonds , in the fourth round of the national cup.

In 2008, Ehime FC took over Ehime Shimanami FC as a reserve team, which has been running as Ehime FC Shimanami since then .

The club plays its home games at Ningineer Stadium in Matsuyama in Ehime Prefecture from. The stadium, owned by Ehime Prefecture, has a capacity of 20,000 spectators. The sports facility is operated by the NINGINEER Network Co.
