Eholfing is a district of the market in Ruhstorf an der Rott in the Lower Bavarian district of Passau . Until 1972 it formed an independent municipality.

location

Eholfing is located in the Rottal over two kilometers northeast of Ruhstorf on the state road 2619, which connects Ruhstorf with Sulzbach am Inn .

history

Gravestones on the church are evidence of Roman settlement. Presumably the place originated at the time of the Bavarian conquest. Eholfing is under Duke Tassilo III. between 770 and 781 already mentioned. A chapel donated by a Menighart in 791/796 is probably Eholfing. The Eholfinger family belonged to the followers of the Counts of Formbach , who possibly had a second official seat in Eholfing. Around the middle of the 11th century a church in Eholfing is first mentioned, for which Count Thiemo acquired parish rights from Bishop Egilbert von Passau . Before 1096, Count Ulrich von Windberg gave the church of Eholvingum to the Vornbach monastery . In the 12th century, numerous witnesses appear in the traditions of Vornbach Abbey named after Eholfing. Around 1206 Reinhard von Eholfing gave the monastery three meadows.

Eholfing formed a Konskriptionsjahr in 1752 chairman shaft and subordinate to the Office Hartkirchen the District Court Griesbach . The monasteries of Aldersbach and Vornbach were the most important landlords.

The municipality of Eholfing emerged in 1818 from the Sulzbach tax district, which was formed in 1811 . It initially belonged to the district court of Griesbach and in 1838 came to the newly formed district court of Passau II. In 1824 it comprised the districts of Aiching, Asenham, Berging, Eholfing, Euling, Heigerting and Zeintlmühle, in 1952 Liegharting and Schindelwöhr were added. 1958 the spelling of the district Aiching was changed to "Eiching". As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , the municipality of Eholfing was incorporated into the municipality of Ruhstorf an der Rott with effect from July 1, 1972 . The parish participation of Heigerting was changed to "Heigerding". Today Eholfing has about 200 inhabitants.
