action

Greta Kaine is a society reporter and, above all, very ambitious in her job; her dream is one day to occupy the editor-in-chief's chair. Always on the lookout for a sparkling story, the it girl ends up by accident and unrecognized on the property of an important family of politicians. Not only that, Ben Tannenhill, the eldest son of the late Senator, even introduces Greta to his family as his new girlfriend. The background to this decision is that Ben found Greta, who was caught in a snowdrift, half-frozen and passed out on the forest property of the Tannenhills in a wedding dress and took it with him to the block house of the administrator. At first he let Greta believe that she was dealing with the manager of the Tannenhills. When he took her to the family estate, he met Klaire Sinclaire, the woman who had broken his heart not so long ago and was introduced to him by his younger brother as his new friend. Greta then suggested that Ben introduce her to his family as his new girlfriend, which he was only too happy to accept.

Greta is warmly welcomed by Ben's mother and brother Jared, while Klaire reacts to the outside world in a friendly manner, but feels completely different. She spies on Greta because she secretly still wants the older of the two brothers, who is believed to be following in his father's footsteps. And besides wealth, Klaire's public fame and influence mean everything.

Unbeknownst to Greta, she is put to the test by Maggie Tannenhill, the mother of Ben and Jared, which, as Maggie later tells the family, she passes without any problems. In any case, Greta is surprised how likeable the Tannenhills are and Ben has it to her anyway.

During a Tannenhills Christmas party, Greta meets her long-term rival Wesley Sharp, of all things, which of course does not go unnoticed by Klaire. After Klaire gets a clear rebuff from Ben, she finds an opportunity to trumpet that Greta is a gossip reporter and just out to expose the Tannenhills. With Ben this communication doesn’t fail to have an effect, he turns away from Greta.

Maggie Tannenhill, however, pulls the strings in the background and shows Ben that she has entrusted a family secret to Greta, but that she kept it to herself and did not use it professionally, which Ben should think about. When Klaire, angry and finally declared persona non grata by the Tannenhills, wants to pass on insider knowledge to the newspaper, Maggie buys it without further ado, which also means the end for Klaire. Ben and Greta, however, now become a real couple.

criticism

“Made-up Christmas comedy with an inevitable romance, which routinely brings the foreseeable events to the stage in front of a beautiful landscape. The penetrating emotional bliss is softened a little by sympathetic actors. "
