The village of Idyllwild-Pine Cove is located here and is surrounded by forest.

In the national forest there are also the Bonita Falls , a waterfall, and a research station of the University of California . In addition, the forest has eight so-called total reserves , i.e. areas that are protected from human interference and largely left to natural development. They are part of the state nature reserve class Wilderness Area . Two of these total reservations are also in the Angeles National Forest. In addition, Big Bear Lake is located in the national forest.

vegetation

The mountain landscapes of the national forest are criss-crossed by many different tree species, especially from the Coniferopsida class .
