Elín Metta Jensen (born March 1, 1995 ) is an Icelandic soccer player who has been in the squad of the first division team Valur Reykjavík since 2010 .

Career

In the club

Elín Metta started playing football at Valur Reykjavík as a child . Between 2006 and 2013 she was in the club's youth teams and scored a total of 198 goals in 116 missions. She first attended the Háteigsskóli in Reykjavík and graduated from the Menntaskólinn í Reykjavík in spring 2015 with a university entrance qualification. In 2014 Elín Metta was an advertising vehicle for the sporting goods supplier Nike .

On July 13, 2010, Elín Metta made her debut for Valur Reykjavík in the Pepsi-deild kvenna , the Icelandic top division, at the age of 15 years and 134 days ; She crowned the 7-2 win over Haukar Hafnarfjörður with her goal to make it 5-2. In the same year, the Icelander won the Icelandic championship with the club, and she was able to celebrate winning the Icelandic Cup with the team in 2010 and 2011 . With 18 goals, the attacker won the Golden Shoe in 2012 as Pepsi-deild kvenna's top scorer, and in the following season she was second on the top scorer list with 17 goals. By the end of the 2015 season, the Icelander appeared 73 times in the Pepsi-deild kvenna and scored 54 goals. Elín Metta made her UEFA Women's Champions League debut in a 1-1 draw with Glasgow City LFC on 29 September 2011 . In November 2014, the 170 cm tall player extended her contract with Valur Reykjavík until October 2017. As of August 2015, Elín Metta - like Dagný Brynjarsdóttir four years earlier - has been a Florida State University scholarship holder for the Florida State Seminoles women's soccer team ; She is also studying industrial engineering .

On July 24, 2010, the attacker made her debut in the U-17 national team ; Elín Metta contributed three goals to the 8-0 victory over the Faroe Islands. By April 2012, Elín Metta had scored 17 goals in 14 games for the U-17 juniors. For the U-19 national team , she came to a total of 19 missions and nine goals between September 2011 and April 2014; In August 2012 and January 2015, the Icelander scored three of the five Icelandic goals in the only two games of the U-23 national selection .

Elín Metta made her senior national team debut in a 3-0 win over Hungary on June 16, 2012 , when she came on in the 75th minute for the national team's record scorer, Margrét Lára Viðarsdóttir . Elín Metta was in the Icelandic squad at the 2013 European Championships in Sweden; in the quarter-final game against the hosts (0: 4) the second youngest player in the squad came into play in the final minutes. From 2013 to 2017 Elín Metta was in the Icelandic squad at the Algarve Cup , was used ten times and scored one goal. In total, Elín Metta has played 31 games for the senior national team so far, in the 5-0 win over Malta on June 19, 2014, she scored her first of eight goals in the senior team's jersey with a brace.
