Elbersdorf is a district of Spangenberg in the north Hessian Schwalm-Eder district .

geography

Elbersdorf is located directly below the Schlossberg and has already grown together with Spangenberg. Only older Elbersdörfer and Spangenbergers can say where the border between the two places runs. A section of the Esse flows through Elbersdorf , which then flows into the Pfieffe near the Holzbau Kühlborn site . The Kaltenbach settlement is also part of Elbersdorf.

history

Elbersdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1220. On December 31, 1971, the city of Spangenberg was joined. Since then, Elbersdorf has been the largest district with around 1,000 inhabitants.

politics

The local advisory board consists of seven people. Five of them belong to the SPD and two to the FWE (Free Voters Elbersdorf). The turnout in 2011 was 51.4%. Mayor 's Ralf Hillwig, SPD.

Culture

There are many clubs in Elbersdorf that are very active. For example the TuSpo Elbersdorf 1965 e. V., the volunteer fire brigade, the choral society "Liederfreund" 1868, the social association VdK local group Elbersdorf and a minstrel and fanfare group of the volunteer fire brigade.

The Elbersdörfer are called "Gigäker" in the area around Spangenberg. The white domestic geese on the Esse gladly greeted intruders with a piercing scream, which gave the Elbersdörfern their nickname.
