Bischofferode is the easternmost district of the city of Spangenberg in the Schwalm-Eder district in northern Hesse . The place is a typical row village on the old country road through the long Hesse and currently has about 230 inhabitants. The incorporation to Spangenberg took place in the course of the regional reform in Hesse by state law on January 1st, 1974.
The local advisory board consists of five people. All belong to the community list Bischofferode. The turnout in the 2011 local elections was 68.2%. The mayor is Bernd Deist, SPD.
Neighboring villages are Pfieffe and Weidelbach , as well as Hetzerode , which belongs to Waldkappel in the Werra-Meißner district. Bischofferode lies at the foot of the iceberg where the Mostebach, a tributary of the Pfieffe , rises.
A stop on the Kanonenbahn was in Bischofferode.
