Weidelbach is a district of Spangenberg in the Schwalm-Eder district in northern Hesse .

Weidelbach 1335 was first mentioned in 1530 the city came along with Schnellrode and Vockerode-Dinkelberg following an exchange with Quentel from office Lichtenau for office Spangenberg .

Weidelbach was, on 1 January 1974 as part of the municipal reform in Hesse powerful state law, the city Spangenberg incorporated . At that time 168 people lived there, today there are 148.

The local council consists of five people. All were on the community list Weidelbach. The voter turnout in 2011 was 83.5%. The head of the village is Manuela Krug-Bettenhausen.

The Weidelbachers are called "sand hares". This is due to the fact that Weidelbach is built on sandy soil ( red sandstone ).
