Elias Motsoaledi ( English Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality , formerly Greater Groblersdal ) is a local municipality in the Sekhukhune district , Limpopo Province in South Africa . The administrative headquarters are in Groblersdal . Mayor is Julia Lata Mathebe.
The community is named after Elias Motsoaledi . He was an ANC member who, along with Nelson Mandela and others, was sentenced to life imprisonment in the Rivonia Trial and taken to the prison island of Robben Island in the Atlantic off Cape Town . He was born in this region.
