Élie-Franck Okobo (born October 23, 1997 in Bordeaux ) is a French basketball player . He has been part of the Phoenix Suns team in the NBA since 2018 .

career

Okobo comes from a family of athletes: his father and little brother played basketball, his big brother handball. Okobo gained his first experience in adult basketball in the 2013/14 season with third division club JSA Bordeaux, and in 2014 he moved to the junior division of first division club Élan Béarnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez . In the top division of the country, he was used for the first time in the 2015/16 season. During the 2016/17 season he was already on the field in 19 top division games and scored an average of 4.8 points per game, in the 2017/18 season it was an average of 12.9 points and 4.8 assists in 34 appearances. He also competed with Pau-Orthez in the European club competition Eurocup.

In June 2018, the guaranteed Phoenix Suns in the draft process of the NBA rights to the French playmaker early in the second selection round. He was awarded a four-year contract by Phoenix.

National team

At the U20 European Championship in 2016, he led the French team as the best scorer with 18.9 points per match, and a year later he won bronze with France at the U20 European Championship.

In November 2018 he was appointed to the senior national team for the first time.
