Elio Rama

Elio Rama IMC (born October 28, 1953 in Tucunduva , Rio Grande do Sul ) is Bishop of Pinheiro .

Life

Elio Rama entered the boys' seminar in Três de Maio in 1967 and studied philosophy in São Paulo . He then joined the order of the Consolata Missionaries and studied Catholic theology at the religious seminary in Rome. He made his profession on October 21, 1982 and was ordained a priest on November 10, 1984 . He studied mission studies at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome. He served as a missionary in Mozambique for 18 years . In 2002 he returned to Brazil and became rector of the Theological Seminary of the Consolata Missionaries in São Paulo and was engaged at the Mission Center in Cascavel . In 2009 he became pastor of the parish of Our Lady of Penha, north of São Paulo. In 2011 he was appointed Superior of the Consolata Missionaries in Brazil.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop of Pinheiro on October 17, 2012 . The Archbishop of São Paulo , Odilo Pedro Cardinal Scherer , donated him episcopal ordination on December 30th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were his predecessor Ricardo Pedro Paglia MSC and Dirceu Vegini , Bishop of Foz do Iguaçu .
