The Diocese of Foz do Iguaçu ( lat. : Dioecesis Iguassuensis ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Foz do Iguaçu in the state of Paraná .

history

The territorial prelature Foz do Iguaçu was on May 10, 1926 by Pope Pius XI. erected with the papal bull Quum in Dies Numerus and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Curitiba as a suffragan . On June 20, 1959, the territorial prelature was dissolved and the dioceses of Campo Mourão and Toledo were established from the territory .

On May 5, 1978, the territorial prelature Foz do Iguaçu was re-established from cessions of territory by the diocese of Toledo and at the same time elevated to the diocese. The diocese of Foz do Iguaçu is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Cascavel as a suffragan.
