Manuel Könner

Manuel Könner SVD (born August 15, 1885 in Sabschütz , Leobschütz district , province of Silesia ; † December 9, 1968 ) was a German Roman Catholic bishop , Steyler missionary and prelate of Foz do Iguaçu in Brazil .

Life

Manuel Könner was ordained a priest on September 29, 1910 for the Steyler Missionaries (SVD). On February 17, 1940 he was by Pope Pius XII. initially appointed Apostolic Administrator of Foz do Iguaçu. On December 13, 1947, he was appointed prelate of Foz do Iguaçu and titular bishop of Modra . He received the episcopal ordination on March 19, 1948 by the apostolic nuncio in Brazil, Carlo Chiarlo . Cocon crators were the Archbishop of Belo Horizonte , Antônio dos Santos Cabral , and the Bishop of Valença , Rodolfo das Mercês de Oliveira Pena . On June 20, 1959, Könner retired. As a council father, Könner took part in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .

Konner died on December 9, 1968.
