Olívio Aurélio Fazza

Olívio Aurélio Fazza SVD (born June 25, 1925 in Juiz de Fora , Minas Gerais , Brazil ; † December 25, 2008 in Foz do Iguaçu , Paraná , Brazil) was a Brazilian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Foz do Iguaçu .

Life

Olívio Aurélio Fazza initially worked in banking and in 1948 joined the religious order of Steyler Missionaries in São Paulo . He studied from 1949 to 1951 philosophy and 1952-1955 Catholic Theology in São Paulo, and later Family Studies in São Paulo and Rome . He was ordained a priest on March 5, 1955 . From 1955 to 1958 he was a teacher and educator for the Steyler missionaries, from 1959 to 1962 a teacher at the small seminary in Toledo and from 1963 to 1975 novice master and pastor in São Paulo. From 1975 to 1978 he was Provincial of his Congregation in São Paulo.

On May 5, 1978 he was appointed by Pope Paul VI. appointed bishop of the diocese of Foz do Iguaçu . He was ordained episcopate on August 12th of the same year by the Archbishop of Juiz de Fora , Geraldo María de Morais Penido ; Co-consecrators were Francisco Manuel Vieira and Luciano Pedro Mendes de Almeida SJ , auxiliary bishops in São Paulo . His motto was: In uno Spiritu .

His resignation was granted in 2001 by Pope John Paul II .
