Elisabeth Endres (Germanist)

Elisabeth Endres (born June 13, 1934 in Munich ; † January 22, 2000 there ) was a German German scholar , historian , literary critic and journalist .

Life

Growing up in Munich, she attended what was then the Angergymnasium (today Theresia-Gerhardinger-Gymnasium am Anger ) run by the poor school sisters ULF in Munich. She studied German and history and received her doctorate in 1960 with a thesis on Jean Paul under Emil Staiger in Zurich . She then worked as a literary critic for the Deutsche Zeitung in Cologne, for the FAZ , the Süddeutsche Zeitung and for various broadcasters. From 1967 to 1969 she was a cultural correspondent in London, and in 1971 she returned to Munich.

In 1996 Endres worked on the 7th Whitsun Symposium Munich from Thursday, May 30th to Sunday, June 2nd, 1996 from sovereign hearing.

In 1989 she was awarded the Schwabing Art Prize for Literature.

Elisabeth Endres died on January 22, 2000 in Munich. Your estate is kept in the Monacensia , a department of the Munich City Library.
