Chuarrancho is a small town in Guatemala with around 4,000 inhabitants and the administrative seat of the municipality of the same name in the Department of Guatemala . The place is 38 kilometers north of Guatemala City at an altitude of 1,350 m.

The 105 km² municipality extends in the very north of the department of Guatemala between the Río Motagua , which forms the border to neighboring Baja Verapaz , and the Río Las Vacas in the south and east. It has a total of around 10,000 inhabitants, most of whom are Cakchiquel and Pocomam . Most of the people live in rural settlements and villages, including Chiquín, Santa Bárbara lo de Lac, La Ceiba, Rincón Grande, Trapiche Grande, San Buena Ventura, Santa Catarina, El Salitre, Los Olotes, El Espinal, San Bernardo, El Tablón , Pablo Xuyá, San Pedrito, El Limón, El Conacaste, El Castaño, San José, El Porvenir and El Amate.

In the north, Chuarrancho borders on the Municipios Granados , El Chol and Salamá of the Baja Verapaz department, in the east on Sanarate ( El Progreso ), in the southeast on San José del Golfo , in the south on San Pedro Ayampuc and Chinautla , in the southwest and west on San Raimundo . Chuarrancho was founded on November 26th, 1883 by farmers from San Pedro Sacatepéquez and in 1905 elevated to a municipality.
