San Pedro Sacatepéquez is a small town in Guatemala with around 15,000 inhabitants and the administrative seat of the municipality of the same name in the Department of Guatemala . The city is located 23 kilometers northwest of Guatemala City on the national road 5, which leads via San Juan Sacatepéquez and Montúfar into the Baja Verapaz department and further north.
The municipality, which is relatively small at 48 km², extends in the north-western mountains of the department of Guatemala at an altitude of about 2,000 meters. It has a total of around 35,000 inhabitants, most of whom are cakchiquel . Much of the population lives in rural settlements and villages, including Vista Hermosa, Buena Vista and Chillani. To the south-east, the mountainous country merges into the plain of Mixco and Guatemala City, of which there is a very good view from the municipality of San Pedro.
Adjacent Municipios are San Juan Sacatepéquez in the north, San Raimundo in the northeast and Mixco in the east and south. To the west, San Pedro borders the Municipios Santo Domingo Xenacoj and Santiago Sacatepéquez in the neighboring Department of Sacatepéquez .
