Elisabeth Menasse-Wiesbauer

Elisabeth Menasse-Wiesbauer (born November 26, 1954 in Obernberg am Inn ) is an Austrian cultural manager and museum director.

Life

She studied history , psychology and philosophy in Salzburg and Vienna and received her doctorate in 1981 under Erika Weinzierl with the work The child as an object of science . Elisabeth Menasse-Wiesbauer was a lecturer at the Universities of Klagenfurt , Salzburg and Vienna and did research in the fields of childhood history and the history of science. In the Ministry of Science , she organized from 1995 to 2001 a research focus on xenophobia .

Since 2003 she has been the director of the ZOOM Children's Museum in Vienna's MuseumsQuartier . In May 2019 it was announced that Andrea Zsutty would succeed her in this role in December 2019.

From 2003 to 2011 she was on the board of the European Children's Museum Association “Hands on Europe”.

She is married to Robert Menasse .
