Elisabeth Pitz-Savelsberg

Elisabeth Pitz-Savelsberg b. Savelsberg (born July 8, 1906 in Aachen , † October 13, 1996 in Wiesbaden ) was a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Pitz-Savelsberg, who was a Roman Catholic , studied social sciences in Cologne and Bonn . From 1932 she then worked in career counseling and as a youth worker at the employment and vocational office in Cologne . With their wedding in 1935, she gave up her professional activity and moved to Hesse. After the death of her husband in 1948, the mother of four passed the scientific teacher examination at the Pedagogical Institute in Darmstadt and then worked in school. In 1950 she moved to the Wiesbaden regional council as the department head for youth care . In addition, she was national chairwoman of the women's sports community of the Catholic sports organization DJK and was involved in the boards of various family associations.

Political party

Before 1933 Pitz-Savelsberg belonged to the Windthorstbund , the youth organization of the ZENTRUM . In 1945 she participated in the founding of the CDU in Wiesbaden. From 1947 to 1950 she was the state chairwoman of the CDU's regional women's committee, which later became the women's union .

MPs

Pitz-Savelsberg was a member of the Hessian state parliament from 1946 to 1953 . She was a member of the German Bundestag from 1953 to 1969. From 1965 to 1969 she was also a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe .
