The village extends along the L31 between Blumberg and Bernau near Berlin and in the direction of Börnicke on the Barnim plateau .

history

Elisenau was founded in 1823 as a Vorwerk by the Chamber President and Knighthood Director Carl Friedrich von Goldbeck . He was the owner of the nearby manors Blumberg, Eiche , Mehrow and Hellersdorf . In the north of Blumberg, on the Seemake, he put Feldmark von Blumberg, Börnicke and Lindow (part of Bernau) together to form a 293 hectare farm and named it Elisenau after his daughter Elisabeth.

In 1836, the Secret Council, Count Friedrich Ludwig von Arnim, bought Goldbeck's estates from his feudal tribe, including Elisenau, which cost 18,000 thalers. For almost 100 years, the estate remained in the possession of the noble von Arnim family . Owners were: Friedrich Adolph von Arnim (1866 to 1871), Georg Friedrich von Arnim-Zichow (1871 to 1881), Hermann von Arnim-Muskau (1881 to 1919) and Adolf von Arnim-Muskau (1919 to 1931).

During this time the main occupation was agriculture, especially grain, root crops and fodder crops, as well as sheep breeding. In 1871 58 people lived here and in 1881 56 people in three households.

Shortly before the then landowner Adolf Graf von Arnim died in 1931, he sold Blumberg and Elisenau to the "Gemeinnützige Siedlungs-Treuhandgesellschaft". This company, founded by Franz Oppenheimer and later also financed by the Prussian state , was supposed to develop rural goods. Subsequently, large parts of the Feldmark were converted into settler sites. The settlement developed so quickly that a teacher from Blumberg was teaching the children as early as 1932. In 1936 his own teacher was approved. A satellite camp of the Oranienburg concentration camp existed here between September 1933 and June 1934 . Finally, in 1939, the RAD camp of the Reich Labor Service for female youth was set up in 8/42 . About 40 maids, including 33 labor maids , aged 17 to 25, did a six-month service here, helping the local settlers.

On March 31, 1960, the LPG type I "Pomona" was founded by consolidating the land of the local farmers. This had the task of supplying Berlin with fruit. After 1990, fruit growing was initially continued in isolated cases and then merged again as Pomona Gartenbau in 2011 . In addition to strawberries, the self-picking facility also offers numerous other berry fruits and stone fruits.
