Traugott Hermann von Arnim-Muskau

Traugott Hermann von Arnim-Muskau (born June 20, 1839 in Merseburg , † January 22, 1919 at Muskau Castle ) was a diplomat and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Arnim-Muskau attended the French college in Berlin and the grammar schools in Halle and Brandenburg . He studied law in Göttingen , Heidelberg and Berlin from 1859 to 1862. In 1859 he became a member of the Corps Saxonia Göttingen . In 1861 he joined the Corps Saxo-Borussia Heidelberg . After that he was first auscultator in Berlin, then in 1863 trainee lawyer with the government in Breslau . He then served in the diplomatic service until 1875 and was Secretary of the Legation in St. Petersburg , Paris , Constantinople and Washington . He was also chargé d'affaires in Brussels and Lisbon and acted as secretary in the peace negotiations in Brussels and Frankfurt a. M. , as well as unskilled workers in the Foreign Office in Berlin. In 1875 he resigned from the civil service because of the treason proceedings initiated against Count Harry Arnim and was sentenced to four weeks in prison for taking part in Count Harry Arnim in the press and insulting Prince Otto von Bismarck , which he served in Prenzlau. As a reserve officer in the Brandenburg Hussar Regiment (Zieten No. 3) he took part in the three campaigns in 1863/64 , 1866 and 1870/71 .

With the purchase of the rulership of Muskau in 1883, he became a large landowner. He continued the industrialization of forest operations aimed at by his predecessor and increased the profitability of his companies. In keeping with his status, he became head of office and honorary chairman of the regional state parliament of Upper Lusatia.

From 1887 to 1907 he represented the German Reich Party in the German Reichstag as a member of the constituency 10 in the administrative district of Liegnitz, which consists of the districts of Rothenburg (Upper Lusatia) and Hoyerswerda . From 1909 to 1918 he belonged to the Prussian manor house .

Arnim-Muskau was Vice President of the Pan-German Association .
