Eliteserien (chess) 2011/12
The 2011/12 Eliteserien was the sixth season of the Norwegian elite series in chess .
The Norwegian team champion was the Oslo Schakselskap for the third time in a row . Kristiansund SK and Tromsø Sjakklubb rose from the 1st divisjon last year . While Kristiansund was runner-up, Tromsø had to be relegated again. In purely sporting terms, the Akademisk Sjakklubb Oslo would have been second relegated, but since Porsgrunn Team Buer withdrew their team after the season, the Akademisk Sjakklubb Oslo was still relegated . Game dates
The competitions took place on November 4th, 5th and 6th 2011, January 13th, 14th and 15th, March 23rd, 24th and 25th 2012. All competitions were held centrally in Oslo .
Season course
The Oslo Schakselskap and Kristiansund SK fought a neck-and-neck race for the title. Before the last round, both teams were tied in terms of team points and board points. In the final round, Oslo Porsgrunn defeated Team Buer 5: 1 and thus defended the title, as Kristiansund only won 3.5: 2.5 against Asker Schakklubb . Before the last round, the relegation of Tromsø Sjakklubb could not be avoided, for the second relegation place there were three teams with the Asker Schakklubb , the Moss Schakklub and the Akademisk Sjakklubb Oslo in question. Since all three relegation candidates lost their last competition, Akademisk could not leave the relegation zone.
