Jon Ludvig Nilssen Hammer (born June 2, 1990 in Bergen ) is a Norwegian chess player .

Life

In 2005 Hammer became FIDE Master , in 2007 International Master . He achieved the necessary standards at the Open Bavarian Championship in Bad Wiessee in autumn 2005 and (with overachievement) in summer 2006 at the chess festival in Biel / Bienne and in March 2007 at the 23rd Open in Cappelle-la-Grande . The title was awarded in June 2007 with the proviso that Hammer achieved an Elo rating of at least 2400, which he achieved in the next Elo list in July 2007. Since 2009, he has been the tenth Norwegian to hold the title of chess grandmaster . Hammer achieved the required standards in March 2007 at the 23rd Open in Cappelle-la-Grande, in September 2008 at the 3rd Xtra Con tournament in Skovbo and at the Anniversary tournament in Gjøvik, which took place over the turn of the year 2008/2009 .

In 2013 he won the Norwegian national championship for the first time in Lillehammer - in the absence of Magnus Carlsen - with 7 points from 9 games (+5 = 4 −0). Hammer took part in the 2013 World Chess Cup in Tromsø , where he prevailed in the first two rounds against the more highly rated Sergej Movsesjan and David Navara , before failing at Gata Kamsky . In July 2018 he won the Norwegian championship again in Sarpsborg with 7.5 points from 9 games.

National team

He played for the Norwegian national team at the 2008 , 2010 and 2014 Chess Olympiads . He also took part in three European team championships : 2007, 2009 and 2015. At the 2009 European team championships in Novi Sad , he had to represent Magnus Carlsen on the top board, who renounced his participation. With 6.5 points from 9 games and an Elo rating of 2792, he achieved the third-best result of all players on the first board. He won against, among others, Pawel Eljanow and Andrei Istrățescu .
