Eliza Scanlen (born January 6, 1999 in Sydney , New South Wales ) is an Australian actress .

Life

Eliza Scanlen was born in Sydney, has a twin sister and took piano lessons as a child for several years. She graduated from high school in 2016 .

While attending high school, she got the role of Tabitha Ford in the Australian soap opera Home and Away . In 2018 she had the title role in the short film Grace , for which she was nominated at the St. Kilda Film Festival in the category Best Actor . She played the role of Amma Crellin in the HBO miniseries Sharp Objects , alongside Patricia Clarkson as her film mother Adora and Amy Adams as her older half-sister Camille Preaker. She was awarded the Screen Australia Breakthrough Award by Australians in Film (AiF) in 2018 .

In Little Women by Greta Gerwig , based on the novel of the same name by Louisa May Alcott about the four sisters Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy March, she played the role of Beth. Emma Watson , Saoirse Ronan and Florence Pugh impersonated their film sisters. At the beginning of 2019 she was in front of the camera for the filming of Das Handwerk des Teufels (The Devil All the Time) by Antônio Campos with Tom Holland , Chris Evans and Mia Wasikowska , where she played the role of Lenora Laferty. She premiered with the Sydney Theater Company in July 2019 in Lord of the Flies as Eric in a production by Kip Williams opposite Mia Wasikowska as Ralph.

In the film Milla Meets Moses (original title Babyteeth ) by Shannon Murphy, which premiered at the Venice International Film Festival 2019 in the competition for the Golden Lion , she played the lead role of the cancer- stricken teenager Milla Finlay.
