Eloui
Eloui is the stage name of the in Vienna living Swiss singer and multi-instrumentalist ( bass , ukulele , Electronics , clarinet , flute , percussion ) Franziska Abgottspon (* 12. October 1972 in Visp ).
Act
Growing up in Switzerland, she came to Vienna in 1993, where she has lived ever since. At the Academy of Fine Arts , with Josef Schulz and Edelbert Köb , she studied artistic teaching and attended a master class for tapestry . After completing her studies, she soon turned to music and has been playing in various formations and as a solo artist since 2006. As a bass player she is active in the bands Ernesty International , Thalija and Brainmanagerz and also works regularly with other bands and musicians ( Mauracher , M185 , Gudrun von Laxenburg ).
Her solo debut album Chasing Atoms , which she presented at the Waves Vienna music festival, among others , was released in November 2011. In the following year she was nominated for the FM4 Award at the Amadeus Austrian Music Awards 2012 . Stylistically, her music is seen by critics in the field of avant-garde pop, as a “synthesis of pop and electronica ” or “electronic songwriter gentleness and folky wandering guitar frenzy”, which rhythmically goes in the direction of trip-hop .
Eloui appears live in different line-ups, solo or in pairs with violinist Christoph Mateka (by Gudrun Von Laxenburg), or in a larger line-up with strings, winds and choir.
