Emanuel Raffeiner (born April 9, 1881 in Schwaz , † March 15, 1923 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian painter .

Life

The son of an altar carpenter attended the Innsbruck State Trade School in 1897/98 and then learned from the Nazarene painters Albrecht Steiner von Felsburg in Innsbruck and Heinrich Kluibenschedl in Rietz . With the latter he painted the frescoes in the parish church of Silz in 1901/02 . From 1902 to 1905 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Martin von Feuerstein . He helped him in 1904/05 with the painting of the German national chapel  in the Basilica of St. Anthony in Padua . In 1909 he settled in Imst , from 1914 he lived in Innsbruck. Presumably in Munich he met the Schwaz sculptor Ludwig Penz , with whom he was on friendly terms.

Raffeiner created portraits and paintings as well as altarpieces and frescoes for Tyrolean churches. His painting developed from Feuerstein's eclecticism to a style of its own, influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites and Art Nouveau , which is unique in Tyrol.
