Emerald Island is an uninhabited island in the Fox Islands , part of the Aleutian Islands . The approximately 500 m long island is located on the southwest tip of Unalaska . The name Emerald, e.g. German emerald-colored , comes from the lush grass cover on the island during the summer months.
