Emil Dähne
Emil Dähne (born November 16, 1902 , † November 26, 1968 in Hamburg ) was President of the German Chess Federation from 1951 to 1968 .
From 1948 until the end of his life, Dähne was chairman of the Hamburg chess club . Here he primarily promoted youth work . In 1950 he successfully advertised a chess course, the Klaus Junge chess course, in high schools in Hamburg . 1951 Dähne organized the German Youth Championship in Hamburg.
In 1951 he became the second president of the German Chess Federation after World War II. He held this office until his death. During this time, the number of members doubled from 24,000 to around 48,000.
In 1952 he donated the Silver Tower Cup , which is still played today as the German cup championship in chess or Dähne Cup .
