Emil Freyburger

Emil Freyburger (pseudonym Gottlieb Frank ) (born May 27, 1825 in Wolterdingen ; † November 3, 1899 in Achern ) was a German writer .

Life

As the son of a pastor, Freyburger grew up in Malterdingen and, after attending high school courses in Karlsruhe and Heidelberg, studied Protestant theology and philosophy in Halle , Tübingen and Heidelberg. During his studies in Halle in 1844 he became a member of the Alemannia auf dem Pflug fraternity , but later resigned. In 1845 he became a member of the Germania Tübingen fraternity . In 1848 he passed his state examination in Heidelberg and then worked for a short time in Eggenheim with his father and then in Karlsruhe as a vicar . With the support of a sponsor, he was able to go on a trip to Italy in addition to studying art in Munich . He lived in Vienna for a year and a half , where he worked as court master , private teacher and art critic for the world newspaper Der Lloyd . In 1851 he traveled to Italy again to study the local art and to meet contemporary painters. In Rome he lived in the house of Peter von Cornelius and worked here as a private teacher and reporter for magazines. For some time he lived in Florence , where he almost died of cholera .

After his return to Germany he was a member of a literary circle to which Victor Scheffel belonged. In 1855 he went into church service and became vicar and deacon in Neckargemünd . He later became court vicar and city vicar in Karlsruhe, where he maintained friendships with Willibald Beyschlag and Emil Frommel . In 1858 he became a deacon and board member of the high school in Müllheim . Frey Burger went in 1865 for health reasons to retire, but was still as secretary in the mental hospital Illenau in Achern active. He was also an editor at Illenauer Wochenblatt . He was active as a writer throughout his life.

His grave is at the Illenau forest cemetery .
