Emil Haussmann during the task force process

Emil Haussmann (born October 11, 1910 in Ravensburg , † July 31, 1947 in Nuremberg ) was a German SS-Sturmbannführer who was involved in the Einsatzkommando 12 of Einsatzgruppe D in the murder of Jews in the Ukraine occupied by the German Reich . Haussmann was a defendant in the Einsatzgruppen trial in 1947 . He evaded the process by suicide .

Life

Emil Haussmann was the son of an accountant for the Oberschwäbische Volkszeitung in Ravensburg. He joined the NSDAP (membership number 185.729) in January 1930 - three years before the " seizure of power " - at the age of 19 . He was a primary school teacher . In 1937, Haussmann switched to the SD as a full-time employee and took over the " Judenreferat " ( Jewish department ) in the south-west section , based in Stuttgart .

On the invasion of Poland Hausmann took on the task force VI part. There he was the “right hand man” of Albert Rapp , who was responsible for SD tasks on the staff of Einsatzgruppe VI. The commander of this task force was Erich Naumann , a later co-defendant of Haussmann. After the fighting ended, Haussmann stayed with Rapp in Poland; Rapp headed the " Umwandererzentralstelle " in Poznan .

Haussmann took part in the attack on the Soviet Union with Einsatzkommando 12 . In 1947 Haussmann was one of 24 defendants in the Einsatzgruppen trial . On July 29, 1947, he, like his co-defendants, received the indictment, which contained three charges: (1) crimes against humanity , (2) war crimes, and (3) membership in a criminal organization. Two days later committed Haussmann in his prison cell suicide and so different from the procedure.
