Emil Krištof

Emil Krištof (born December 10, 1957 in Hof / Dvor ) is an Austrian drummer and composer of creative jazz .

Krištof was first heard at numerous jazz concerts with the Kundalini group he founded , which existed from 1980 to 1992 and combined South Slavic folk music and jazz. Between 1986 and 1989 he studied jazz and popular music up to a diploma at the State Conservatory in Klagenfurt. Since 1987 he has been the artistic co-director of the Unikum university cultural center in Klagenfurt. There he organized, e.g. T. conceived and composed concerts with Fred Frith , Uli Scherer , Matthieu Michel , Klaus Dickbauer , Herbert Joos , Wolfgang Puschnig , Wolfgang Reisinger , Radu Malfatti and others. In 1997, Krištof toured Mexico with The minimal trio (Uli Scherer, Ali Gaggl ). He also worked on Puschnig's Roots & Fruits with the Stage Band of the Vienna Art Orchestra . He also set poems by Jani Oswald to music . With his colleagues from Carinthian Connection (Puschnig, Gaggl, Andreas Mayerhofer and Karl Sayer ) he is participating in the long -standing jazz vocal workshop at the Musikforum Viktring . He can also be heard on albums by Herbert Joos and Lorenz Raab .
