Emil Lohkamp

Emil Wilhelm Lohkamp (born December 30, 1902 in Witten ; † March 4, 1993 in Hamburg ) was a German actor and radio play speaker .

Life

Emil Lohkamp gained his first stage experience in 1923 in the amateur ensemble at the Haaß-Berkow-Spiele. This was followed from 1924 to 1925 acting lessons with Mara Feldern-Förster in Munich . Lohkamp made his debut in 1925 as Hamlet at the then play in Recklinghausen . This was followed by positions at the Schauspielhaus Zürich (1926/1927), the Bremer Schauspielhaus (1927/1928), the Stadttheater Bochum (1928/1931), the Landestheater Darmstadt (1931/1936), and the Hamburg Thalia Theater (1936/1949) ) on. After working at the Staatstheater Braunschweig (1949/1951) he was a member of the ensemble at the Städtische Bühnen Frankfurt from 1951 until his retirement in 1968 .

Emil Lohkamp played the title role in the Nazi propaganda film Hans Westmar by Franz Wenzler in 1933 . Next to him were Paul Wegener and Gertrud de Lalsky, among others. In the 1944 film Träumerei by Harald Braun with Hilde Krahl , Mathias Wieman and Friedrich Kayßler , he played the composer Franz Liszt . He had his last film appearance in 1968 in the film adaptation (production of the Hessischer Rundfunk ) of the play Graf Öderland by Max Frisch , directed by Rolf Hädrich with Bernhard Wicki , Agnes Fink and Hans Caninenberg .

Emil Lohkamp was also active as a speaker in numerous radio plays . In the radio play adaptation of Heinrich von Kleist's novella Michael Kohlhaas , directed by Ulrich Lauterbach , he spoke alongside Walter Richter , Heinz Schimmelpfennig and Konrad Georg .

Emil Lohkamp was married to the theater actress and director Freca-Renate Bortfeldt .
The couple was buried in the Ohlsdorf cemetery in grid square R26,224; the tombstone has been in the women's garden since spring 2020 .
