Emile Smith Rowe (born July 28, 2000 in Croydon , London ) is an English football player who is on loan from Arsenal FC to Huddersfield Town .

Career

Smith Rowe joined Arsenal FC's youth academy at the age of nine . Since then he went through all youth teams of the Gunners up to and including the U23 . In summer 2018 he was allowed to start the season preparation for the first time with the professional team, where he was also used as part of the International Champions Cup . Before the start of the 2018/19 season  , he signed a long-term contract with Arsenal. The association has not given any information about the duration of the contract. Smith Rowe made his competitive debut for the Londoners on matchday 1 of the Europa League against Worskla Poltava when he came on for Alex Iwobi in the 70th minute . He is the first player in Arsenal history to be born in 2000 or later. With his first professional goal for the Gunners on the 2nd Europa League matchday against Qarabağ Ağdam , he became the second youngest Arsenal scorer in the club's history.

After a total of four games (two goals) in the UEFA Europa League and two games (one goal) in the League Cup , Smith Rowe joined Bundesliga club RB Leipzig on loan until the end of the 2018/19 season . He made his Bundesliga debut on matchday 29 when he came on as a substitute for Emil Forsberg in stoppage time in the second half of the 2-0 home win against VfL Wolfsburg . As a result, the Englishman only made two more Bundesliga appearances.

For the season 2019/20 Smith Rowe returned to Arsenal. Across all competitions, the midfielder played seven games for the first and six for the second team. He was then awarded to the second division Huddersfield Town in January 2020 until the end of the season .

National team

Smith Rowe took part in the European Championship with England's U17 national team in April 2017 . He was runner-up with the team, but was not used in the final against Spain . In October 2017, Smith Rowe became world champion with the U17s .
