Emmanuel Lubezki

Emmanuel "Chivo" Lubezki (* 1964 in Mexico City as Emmanuel Lubezki Morgenstern ) is a Mexican cameraman . He also works as a producer and director. Among other things, he is a three-time Oscar winner .

Life

He began his career as a cameraman on Mexican television in the mid-1980s. In 1993 he worked with Twenty Bucks - money doesn't stink - or does it? for the first time in a US production.

He often shoots with the director Alfonso Cuarón , with whom he is also friendly. At the 2014 Academy Awards , he was awarded the Oscar for Best Cinematography for his cinematography on Cuarón's film Gravity . He received the same award in 2015 for the film Birdman or (The Unexpected Power of Cluelessness) and in 2016 for The Revenant , for the third time in a row.
