Emmy Werner
Emmy Werner (born September 13, 1938 in Vienna ) is an Austrian actress and director and was director of the Vienna Volkstheater for 17 years .
Live and act
Emmy Werner's father was Hans Werner , writer and lyricist of well-known Viennese songs , her mother (1905–2002) Emmy Werner was a dancer at the Vienna Volksoper from 1920 to 1924. The maternal grandfather was the architect Eduard Prandl .
Emmy Werner first attended the girls' secondary school in the 19th district in Billrothstrasse. After graduating from high school in 1956, she began acting training from 1957 to 1959 with Otto Kerry , Maria Luise Rainer and Eduard Volters , which she completed in 1959 before the joint examination board. This was followed by the marriage to the actor and director Georg Lhotsky in 1959 and the birth of their son Alexander Lhotzky (1959-2016). The marriage was divorced by mutual consent in 1974.
As an actress, Werner had engagements at the Theater der Jugend , the Theater in der Josefstadt and the Volkstheater. It was seen on television and heard in radio plays. She played in the Theater der Courage from 1963 to 1968 and from 1973 to 1976. She then worked as a dramaturg and director for theater, film and television and was independently responsible for the creation of feature documentaries and directing work for a TV film. From 1980 to 1981 she co-directed the Theater der Courage together with Stella Kadmon . In 1979/1980 she initiated the founding of the Kleinbühne Theater in Drachengasse , which then opened in 1981 and in which she took over the management and continued to direct and act until 1987.
On January 1, 1988 Emmy Werner joined the management of the Volkstheater Wien , which she was artistic director from September 1, 1988 to August 31, 2005. During this time she supervised 13 plays as a director.
