After studying at Leeds College of Music, which was later followed by a jazz course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama , he was a member of Ken Macintosh's band between 1981 and 1984. He spent the next twelve years in the Pasadena Roof Orchestra ( Steppin Out , Breakaway ) and then until 2000 as a member of Ray Gelato's band ( Men From Uncle ); he also plays in the John Wilson Orchestra ( Orchestral Jazz ). In 1987 he presented his first album under his own name ( Love ad Libitum ). He started his own group and was involved in some of Keith Nichols' projects. In 2002 he plays in the Paramount Jazz Band of Acker Bilk , where he remained until the dissolution; he was also part of the Chris Ingham Trio. Tom Lord has 39 jazz recordings between 1980 and 2012. He can also be heard on albums by The Creatures , Cactus Rain , Barry Adamson , Marc Almond and Bryan Ferry ( As Time Goes By , The Jazz Age ).
