The ensemble diX is a chamber music formation from Gera .

history

The diX ensemble consists of the solo woodwinds of the Altenburg Gera Philharmonic Orchestra . It was founded in Gera in 1999 and named itself “ensemble diX” in honor of the Gera-born painter Otto Dix .

The ensemble specializes in setting Otto Dix paintings to music and presenting chamber music in unusual formations. In combination with harp , drums , speaker, dance , choir and solo singing, it developed a series of concert projects, among others in collaboration with the Palucca School , Lutz Seiler , the Vocalconsort Leipzig , Mathias Kaden and the Liszt Prize winner Simon Bürki.

The ensemble has performed in the Frauenkirche Dresden , in the Gewandhaus Leipzig , in the Museum Gunzenhauser Chemnitz, in the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart , in the Kunstmuseum Moritzburg Halle, at various national Bach festivals as well as internationally in Poland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Florence, Dublin, London and New York.

The ensemble was funded by the Music Fund, the Thuringian Cultural Foundation, the Thuringian State Chancellery , the Szloma Albam Foundation and the Initiative for New Music Berlin.

The ensemble has commissioned numerous works from contemporary composers and has produced several CDs.
