Johannes Wulff-Woesten

Johannes Wulff-Woesten (* 1966 in Jena ) is a German pianist , composer and conductor .

Life

Wulff-Woesten studied conducting, composition and piano at the Liszt School of Music in Weimar from 1986 to 1992 . From 1989 he was a master student in composition under Reinhard Wolschina . The Semper Opera House in Dresden it is connected since 1991, first as a coach and since 2000 as director of studies .

As an assistant he worked there with the conductors Christian Thielemann , Colin Davis , Giuseppe Sinopoli , Fabio Luisi , Peter Schneider , Semyon Bychkov , Kirill Petrenko , Kent Nagano , Ádám Fischer , Andris Nelsons , Christof Prick , Gerd Albrecht and Marc Albrecht .

Since 1996 he has worked as a musical assistant, solo coach and director of studies at the Bayreuth Festival . He was the pianist and accompanist of the soloists Evelyn Herlitzius , Iris Vermillion , Rachel Willis-Sørensen , Markus Butter , Rainer Trost and Benjamin Bruns . As director of the Salon Orchestra Dresden Kapellsalon made up of members of the Sächsische Staatskapelle and guests, he wrote his own arrangements. As a conductor, he appeared in family concerts by the Staatskapelle Dresden at Kapelle für Kids and in various opera formats. He directed productions on Semper 2 , the small stage of the State Opera, such as the new production of Der Kaiser von Atlantis .

As a composer he has developed his own style, which fuses the contemporary and postmodern elements and at the same time strives for the unity of content and form. In recent years, in addition to chamber and orchestral music, various stage works have been premiered in the small venue of the Semperoper and oratorios in Dresden.
