Annette Jahns

Annette Jahns (born June 24, 1958 in Dresden ; † September 11, 2020 ) was a German opera singer ( alto ) and opera director .

Life

Annette Jahns began her vocal studies at the Dresden Music Academy in 1975 ; She completed masterclasses with Judith Beckmann , Ute Niss and Theo Adam . In 1982 she was accepted into the opera studio of the Saxon State Opera Dresden (Semperoper) , from 1986 she was a member of the soloist ensemble of the Semperoper. From 1999 she worked as a freelance singer and director. In addition to classical roles in the alto and mezzo-soprano subjects, she embodied a. a. the title role in Bettina by Friedrich Schenker and Karl Mickel (premiere 1987 Theater im Palast, Berlin) and Sarah Chatterton in Thomas Chatterton by Matthias Pintscherand Claus H. Henneberg (UA 1998 Semperoper Dresden).

In 2000 she made her debut at the Bayreuth Festival under Giuseppe Sinopoli in Richard Wagner's Die Walküre , and in 2002 at the Salzburg Festival under Fabio Luisi in Richard Strauss ' Die Liebe der Danae . From 2005 Annette Jahns was secretary of the class performing arts and film at the Saxon Academy of the Arts . She died in September 2020 after a long, serious illness at the age of 62.
