Art Prize of the State Capital Dresden

The City of Dresden awards the Art Prize of the State Capital Dresden to persons or ensembles with recognized artistic work who have a focus of their artistic work in Dresden or whose work is of great importance for the city.

The prize has been awarded annually since 1993 and is endowed with 7,000 euros (as of 2019). Forerunners were the Art Prize of the City of Dresden and the Martin Andersen Nexö Art Prize of the City of Dresden , which was awarded from 1959 to 1990. In the 1920s and early 1930s there was also an art prize from the city of Dresden . B. was awarded to Miron Sima in 1932 . In addition to the art prize, the state capital Dresden's sponsorship prize is awarded to young artists every year. The prize, in the form of a two-part bronze apple, was designed by Peter Götz Güttler .
