Orléans Loiret , also known as "Entente Orléanaise" is a French basketball club in Orléans , the capital of the Loiret department . The club was founded in 1993 when three lower class clubs, Orléans, Fleury-les-Aubrais and Saint-Jean-de-Braye merged.

history

The club started in 1993 in the National League 2 (amateur league). In 1999 they were promoted to the National League 1 and in 2002 they were promoted to the professional field, the Pro B league. After the Pro B championship in 2006, the club rose to the top French Pro A division. In addition, Orléans reached the final of the French Cup. After a few start-up years, the newcomer established himself in the highest league and reached the final of the ProA league in 2009, which was lost to ASVEL. This success enabled the club to qualify for the Euroleague . In qualifying, Orléans beat Spirou and Benetton, but ended up in 6th place in his group in the regular season. In the same 2009/10 season, Orléans won its first title with the French Cup. After some changes among the sponsors took place in 2010, the club changed its name from "Entente Orléanaise" to "Orléans Loiret Basket".
