The developing region Midwest ( Nepali मध्य पश्चिमाञ्चल विकास क्षेत्र Madhya Pashchimānchal Bikās Kshetra ) was one of five developing regions in Nepal .

It had an area of ​​42,378 km² and consisted of the following administrative zones:

At the 2011 census, the region had 3,546,682 inhabitants. The administrative seat was Birendranagar .

With the constitution of September 20, 2015 and the resulting reorganization of Nepal into provinces, the districts in this developing region were assigned to the newly created provinces No. 5 and Karnali (initially Province No. 6).
