Mahakali ( Nepali महाकाली अञ्चल Mahakali Anchal ) was one of the 14 former administrative areas of the state of Nepal .

It was named after the large border river Mahakali (in the lower reaches of Sharda ) in the west of Nepal and tributary of the Ghaghara and was located in the developing region Far West in the far west of Nepal. It stretched from the Terai to the Tibetan highlands . The administrative seat was Bhim Datta .

The zone consisted of 4 districts:

By the constitution of September 20, 2015 and the resulting reorganization of Nepal into provinces, the districts of this zone were assigned to the newly created province of Sudurpashchim (initially Province No. 7).
