The eparchy Muvattupuzha ( Latin Eparchia Muvattupuzhensis ) is in India located eparchy of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church based in Muvattupuzha , district Ernakulam , Kerala .

history

The eparchy was established on January 15, 2003 by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Communitates terrarum from cessions of territory of the Eparchy Tiruvalla and subordinated to the Archparchy Trivandrum as a suffragan diocese. On May 15, 2006, the Muvattupuzha Eparchy was subordinated to the Tiruvalla Archepark as a suffragan diocese.

The Muvattupuzha eparchy only covers the Syro-Malankar Catholics of the area. The Catholics of the Latin rite and the Syro-Malabar rite who also live there belong to other dioceses.
