John Kochuthundil
John Kochuthundil (born April 8, 1959 in Puthussery Bhagon , Kerala , India ) is an Indian clergyman and syro-malankara Catholic bishop of Muvattupuzha .
Life
After attending the Minor Seminary in Thiruvananthapuram , John Kochuthundil studied Philosophy and Catholic Theology at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Aluva . He received on 22 December 1985, the sacrament of Holy Orders . Kochuthundil received his doctorate in Eastern Church Law from the Pontifical Oriental Institute in Rome .
After various activities in pastoral care , John Kochuthundil worked as a rain of the small seminary, official , employee of the Indian Bishops' Conference and protosynkellos of the Gurgaon eparchy . Most recently he was protosyncullos of the Grand Archdiocese of Trivandrum .
On August 5, 2017 Pope appointed him Francis to the titular of Thuburbo Majus and Curia Bishop in the Syro-Malankara Catholic Major Archeparchy of Trivandrum as well as apostolic visitor for Syro-Malankara Catholics in Europe and Oceania. The Grand Archbishop of Trivandrum, Baselios Cleemis Cardinal Thottunkal , donated him episcopal ordination on September 21 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Mavelikara , Joshuah Ignathios Kizhakkeveettil , and the Bishop of Pathanamthitta , Yoohanon Chrysostom Kalloor .
On April 10, 2018, he was appointed coadjutor bishop of Muvattupuzha. On June 11, 2019, Kochuthundil became Bishop of Muvattupuzha, succeeding the resigned Abraham Youlios Kackanatt .
