George Kalayil

George Kalayil (born July 16, 1958 in Renjalady , Karnataka , India ) is the Syro-Malankara Catholic Bishop of Puthur .

Life

George Kalayil studied Philosophy at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Mangalore and Catholic Theology at the Seminary in Pune . He received on 1 May 1986, the sacrament of Holy Orders . Kalayil was at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome in trade dogma doctorate .

George Kalayil then worked as a pastor in several parishes . He was also the director of St. Joseph's School in Bathery and Regens of St. Mary's Major Seminary . In 2010 Kalayil became protosyncullos of the Puthur eparchy.

On August 5, 2017, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Puthur. The Grand Archbishop of Trivandrum , Baselios Cleemis Thottunkal , donated him episcopal ordination on September 21 of the same year . Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Tiruvalla , Thomas Koorilos Chakkalapadickal , and his predecessor Geevarghese Divannasios Ottathengil .
