Ephraim Silas Obot

Ephraim Silas Obot (born October 6, 1936 in Adiasim , Akwa Ibom , Nigeria ; † April 12, 2009 ) was Bishop of Idah .

Life

Ephraim Silas Obot received the priestly ordination on June 29, 1968. 1971 he was by Pope Paul VI. appointed titular bishop of Iunca in Byzacena and appointed auxiliary bishop in the diocese of Ikot Ekpene . The episcopal ordination donated to him on October 31, 1971 Archbishop Amelio Poggi , Apostolic Delegate in Nigeria. Co- consecrators were Dominic Ignatius Ekandem , Bishop of Ikot Ekpene and later Cardinal , and Bishop Felix Alaba Adeosin Job , Bishop of Ibadan.

In 1977 he was named the first bishop of the Diocese of Idah . He died in office of complications from Parkinson's disease .

Through the mediation of Eduard Schick and Ephraim Obot, the first bishop of Idah, there was a long-term partnership between the Diocese of Idah and the Diocese of Fulda .
